Te Whare Matauranga
Te Whare Matauranga is the framework of our wellbeing curriculum. It is inspired by Sir Mason Durie's model, Te Whare Tapa Whā, a house with four walls, each representing a dimension of wellbeing: tinana (physical), whānau (social), hinengaro (emotional), and wairua (spiritual). We’ve added the foundation, te taiao (environment) and the porch, punenga, (intellectual).
These six dimensions are how we organise our curriculum and learning programmes. Through these dimensions we grow towards our vision, values and philosophy.
